Calculations and formulas in Schedules

Erik Bjornhage
Advisor

So, this is perhaps a bump from previous topics but the full functionality has not yet been solved.

My wish is for spreadsheet style calculations in Schedules.

As a simple example:

A big residential project - with a number of different apartment types (1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed etc.) which is of course a part of a total number of apartments. Currently we cannot list these apartments and have the schedule display their repective percentages in relation to the total. This would be extremely beneficial to general project management and how and what we can deliver to clients.

This wish has made it onto our Product roadmap!

Can't this be done now with expressions in properties.

You then associate those properties to your elements and then schedule the properties to get the results.

So true - very well pointed out.

For anyone that wants to do this use expression using data type as 'String'
IF( {Window Sill Height} < 800 mm, "Regulatory Text Quote",""  )
Use this parameter in your schedule and it will pull the 'Text Quote' if the value parameter is true.

Is there a way you can use this to edit the surface material of something in 3D do you know? @Barry Kelly

Eg if bathroom is set as location - set 3D glass material to obscure

It might be best to start a new thread in the forums regarding this as it is going off topic from this wish.

Are you happy for me to close this wish or do you still want to see this feature in the schedules?

I am not sure how that could be done as schedules are just a list of element values and totals.

Adding a more flexible spreadsheet-like functionality into schedules, like the ability to add mathematical functions to cells directly in schedules, that would work with the numerical data within the schedules. For example, in a zone list that represents apartments in a building it would be great to be able to calculate the average area automatically, without having to calculate it externally and then typing it in or copying everything to excel and doing the functions there.
