It would be valuable to be able to extract certain information from a PLN without the need for an Archicad licence.
We are talking to property owners and facility managers that have the need for reading information from an Archicad PLN so that they can populate their FM databases. There are various information containers that need to be managed but they relate to both tenancy management as well as operational management.
A lot of the information requirements in Sweden are now mandating delivery of an IFC at the end of a project, but also the original file. For any future tenancy fit-outs and changes they need the native file as a base model. many of them are currently migrating their FM systems from a 2D and/or manual environment to a more integrated information environment using the model as a base. The trend is heavily leaning towards Revit to be a key deliverable, partially based on various existing plug-ins that can read information either from the Revit-model directly, or from the database populated by the RVT.
If there could be a similar development for Archicad I believe this could be an argument for more interoperability and less focus on "the other BIM-tool" as the database would be "product neutral". This may already be possible but I feel that there are some steps needed for this to be either communicated and known - or for there to be clear information on how to achieve this.
Even though mandating specific tools is technically not allowed in Swedish public tenders, the way to get around this is to mandate compatibility with core functions...for us this means that this could quickly become a market critical functionality.
