Give cameras a home story

NateLumen

Here's the problem: When placing a camera on a floor plan, it appears that it is showing what is visible on that story. However, as far as I can tell, cameras have no home story so their height (Z) is set relative to project zero. What if I am on floor 38 (we don't do projects this big, but maybe you do)? Do I have to go into 3D and measure some distance off the floor slab?

I propose this solution: Often I want to show a view as if a person is standing on the floor of a given story. Give us the option to place a camera to a specific story and set the height relative to that story.

Anyone else?

If you place a camera in plan, you must set the z height.

If you open the 3D view you want and the right mouse click on the camera path in Project Map, you can choose to 'save current projection'

This will create a new camera in that path and set the z height (and target height - I'm not quite sure how it determines the target height) automatically.

You can also select an existing camera, open in 3D, adjust the view and then right click on that camera in the Project Map and choose 'Modify this camera to current view'.

But your wish for a home storey offset, I think is a good one.

Thanks @Barry Kelly . Yes, there are many ways of doing thing in Archicad many of which lie somewhere between a "method" and a "workaround". I think my point is - let's create a more intuitive way to place cameras that is based on the experience of standing in or around a building.
