When using archicad lights, we often use the built-in text of the 2D symbol to show a light type, which is on the luminaires schedule. I would like to see a checkbox added to the 2D appearance UI to allow that text to be taken from the light's element ID, instead of having to place a label on potentially hundreds of lights. This text should also offer the option to scale to paper space, to be consistent with other annotation objects.
Maybe to go further - the lights library is antiquated and should really be re-examined based on modern product types and uses, like for example LED cove lights which have to be modelled as beams right now. I would suggest that lights should be more generic - let the user pick an orientation (wall, floor, or ceiling mounted), a mounting style (recessed, surface, suspended, pole), and a shape (cylindrical, spherical, conical, profile + path, etc). If more detail is required, an option to call a macro (similar to the custom door panels or knobs) would make it far easier to update and refine the light as the project evolves.
