BIMx In AC17?

Anonymous
Not applicable
As a previous owner of a VBE and latter a BIMx licence and on behalf of others who have invested in this product before AC17, what is Graphisoft proposing?

Do we get a free upgrade to a new and improved BIMx in the future that only previous licence purchasers have access to, or do we get a refund?

Yes we can ask our dealer as I have and its not clear yet?

I hope Graphisoft do the right thing here?

I am no expert here but I am in the same boat as you.
I look at it this way.
We have bought BIMx license(s) for 16 and we will still need those licenses for 16.
In fact we bought VBE for 14 and yes it was a free upgrade to 15 & 16 (if I recall correctly).

It is now included in 17 so essentially you are still getting your free upgrade having initially purchased the product.

I am not sure about here in AUS but it seems the new license fees for 17 has increased in other countries so effectively new users are paying for BIMx too.

I think I will be upset if GS start giving away BIMx free for older versions now that it is "free" in 17.
That would not be very fair in my eyes.

Barry, I got VBE for AC14 as well and most of us have a subscription agreement.

I also use Chief Architect and their client viewer is free and more professional than BIMx IMO.

Graphisoft is being fair now by including it in AC17. The price rise of AC upgrades in Australia for current versions is only $35.00AU on sub.

If VBE or BIMx was purchased for $1100.00 AU on subscription by us, that is in no way fair but think of those that paid double for something that should be free or included in ArchiCAD like Chief Architect does.

If now they have planned a more sophisticated BIMx version in future and we got a free upgrade for that as licence holders that would be fair.

But those will the on board version of BIMx in AC17 should pay the same as us for a more sophisticated version of BIMx then all is fair IMO.

Hi Manuel
Can you tell me more about "Chief Architect" please?
I am a South African user and do not know this module.

I came to the forum today to see if there is a reason why my BIMx for ArchiCad 17 does not access my online account on bimx.graphisoft.com to upload my next project.

Hi Francois,
Please contact your ArchiCAD supplier. I also believe you may need to have a current subscription agreement as well, please check with them.

Please go to this website to find out more about Chief Architect.

Thanks for the info on Chief Architect Manuel
RE: ArchiCad: I am on SSA since v6.5 and my key is upgraded to AC17 already. The BIMx share from the desktop app and the website upload still does not work.
Our national Graphisoft Head office could not give me answers so now I am trying the forum.

Just tested again to verify that the sharing works fine. I have to imagine that it is something related to your login or maybe somehow your IP address is blocked.

Are you able to log in correctly here:
https://bimx.graphisoft.com

And you're sure that within Bimx, you've used the same login credentials? Click 'sign out' and sign in again?

Yes to all the options you ask.
My Web screenshot shows me as logged in at https://bimx.graphisoft.com but I still get the message from the site that I need to log in a few moments after I click the Upload button.
If I can log in at the site my credentials must be correct and accepted when I use the same on the desktop app.
I described the variety of attempts and their response / result.
Are there any alternatives you know of.

Can't imagine why it's not working for you, Fancois. Seems like GS HQ may need to help if the local support isn't helping.

That the upload begins and then you get a message that you need to log in again is odd... Have you tried with your firewall and antivirus temporarily disabled?

Since you are able to get to the web site, the alternative / workaround would be to just save the BIMx file back to your computer, and then use the Upload Model dialog on the web site. Same end result, just an extra step.

Thanks so much for trying to think it through with me Karl.
I tried this website upload option you mention even before posting to the forum.
See screenshots and descriptions of all my attempts and error reports here

How do you suggest I make contact with GS HQ with this issue.
Is this forum not the right place?
