BIMx controls disabled

In saving BIMx for desktop (File:Save As: BIMx) the resulting model opens without the ability to navigate except moving and scrolling the mouse. No arrow keys, no lift and lower with Y & H, no toggling walk/fly mode etc. Oddly the background renders as black to white gradient rather than sky even though the setting is "Sky".

To answer my own question: A camera path must be active. Surprised not to have run into this before.
