Checking BimXPro output on desktop before sending - how?

Paul King

I am not a tablet user and never plan to be, but am interested in making BimXpro files available for those who do have tablets.

How can I produce BimXPro output from ArchiCAD and check it all looks and works as expected from my Windows Desktop before sending it on to clients? From what I have heard, this is (astonishingly) not possible?

Surely this lack would have to be a staggering blunder? Who would be stupid enough to buy app unless there was a way to see the files it produces?

I would never buy an app that requires me to buy a whole new separate device and a new platform - just to check the output from that one app.

What about clients who don't have tablets (probably most of them) - surely BimXPro would be just as useful to them? - Graphisoft appear to be targeting a stupidly narrow market. What am I missing here?

You can check the model on the desktop but not the rest of the file. This to me is a huge hole in this technology. Your client will have to have a tablet to view the file.

I agree with you, there should be a desk top version that is as adept as the tablet version! Not sure if there's a BIMx wishlist, if there is, this should be on it!

Slightly off topic though, one of the main reasons I invested in a tablet was the ability to take a full set of drawings to site without having to cut down another tree. If you do need to take drawings out of the office then maybe now is the time to consider investing in a tablet.

I agree. As you may all know there is a new iPad Pro being released very soon which has a 12.9" screen. I am seriously thinking of getting it for client meetings with the BIMx Pro model.

Can't you check it on a smartphone? They use the same iOS/Android that tablet use.
