I have a similar type of problem. Though i am with standard work environment, can't find Bimx format in save as option while in 3D window. Moreover, I checked Options menu > Add-on manager, it show BIMx as installed but with an error mark. Please check the image below :

Hey Guys,

I can see there is a bit of confusion around the bimx file saving workflow.

There is the regular BIMx 3D Model Format (with only 3D content). This is available via File/Save as... option. It is only available from 3D window though. The only reason why its not there is that the BIMx Add-On is not installed/loaded in correctly. (We are investigating in cFakhar's and vasil4y92's issue already)

A BIMx Hyper-model (which has the 3D content and the 2D drawings) can be saved from the Publisher, there the file can be manually assembled from layouts and the desired 3D view(s). This process can be simplified with the File/Publish BIMx Hyper-model option where a publisher set is automatically created with all the layouts and the 3D view. If this option is not visible, then either the latest Hotfixes are not installed (#3 or 4) or the BIMx Add-On is not loaded in.

Let me present you a video guide which gives a great help and explains the entire BIMx workflow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XnAkShOq7o

Or possibly this new command was not added to an older or custom Work Environment.

Yes that's right! However in that case the BIMx Hyper-model Publisher set still can be created from the Publisher.
(The option in the File menu can easily be added in Options/Work Environment/Command Layout Schemes/Menus)

Hi there

While we are on the topic of bimx, how do you save a bimx model (not a docs model) with global illumination right out of Archicad 17?

Sally.

There are two Options

1) Save BIMx from 3d view then open it with BIMx then go to the Global Illumination Tab > Initialize > Then either Light View or Light All

2) Make a publisher set with just the 3D view you want to display for your 3d model, then check format to BIMx and selection the option tab and check off GI

Isn't option 2 only for bimx docs (hypermodel)? And they can't be opened on a computer, just ipad.

So that means the only way is to use the double step method of saving as bimx then saving again out of bimx viewer with global ilumination?

Why can't we do it all out of archicad? I hope someone knows how!

Thx.

Sally.

Yes option 2 is only for a hyper model

Hopefully we will be able to do that in the future, just don't know of any other way.
