I am currently using VBE for ArchiCAD 14, and have found a way to record the walk throughs. I use the free version if Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 found
here.
First start the Screen Capture portion of Expression. Launch VBE, open the menu, launch the prerecorded walkthrough sequence, and hit esc to return to full screen. Now, If using a pc, hit ctrl+shift+esc (not sure what the mac equivalent would be). This opens your task manager and pops up your task bar. It also reopens the menu in VBE since you technically hit esc. You can now go to the task bar, select Expression Screen Capture which is already running, and hit record. It will then ask you to define a window to record on the screen. If you came straight out of VBE and to Expression, you can see VBE in the background, and you can set the record window size for Expression by resizing the red box on your screen. I find the best results are when you keep the menu open on VBE, and record only a portion of the screen (instead of full screen)(If you want to record full screen, then you need to make sure that the menu on VBE is open before you hit ctr+shift+esc). I find the recorded video is choppy if you are trying to record a window that is too large. You can also change the video quality settings within Expression Screen Capture to help with this. Finally, once you set your record window size, wait for your walkthrough sequence (which should already be playing) to get close to the end, and before it cycles through to the beginning again, hit record. You will see a count down, and it will start to record the screen. IMPORTANT: do not click back into VBE; this will cause VBE to reinitialize, and Expression will not be able to record it. Just let it sit recording your preset walkthrough because it is technically still in the background. This is why it is important to create a preset walkthrough. You will find that you wont be able to record a live walkthrough.
Hope that helps!
