AC26 save as Revit file - Error

Hi everyone, I don't know what to do anymore to save the model as a revit file. The other engineers from the team are working in Revit and I always export them the file. But now, since the model is getting more populated and bigger, I cannot save it.

It goes through the whoooooole process of saving, about 20-30min and at the end just gives the message 'Error, cannot create Revit file'.

I have tried closing some heavy layers such as furnishing, and sanitaryware, and still is doing the same thing.

What else can I try, as I really need to export this model as Revit. I have tried as IFC but it doesn't export everything as good as the Revit file.

Thanks.

Closing the layers and open them one by one, I managed to find the guilty one for the export error. It was the zones layer, had no idea it will overload the 3D so much.

If other files work and this one doesn't, then all I can suggest is a process of elimination as you have attempted.

Maybe turn all layers off except a few and try that.

Gradually turn more on until you get the error.

Or I assume you are 'saving as' from the 3D window, try isolating certain areas with a marquee, so only that portion saves?

I can't say I have ever saved as a Revit file so I am not sure, but I assume it only saves what you see in the 3D window.

Another option is to create multiple 3D Views and save each as a RVT file.

For example:

View about the Structure

View about the building envelope

View about internal Walls

View about furnitures and equipments

View about MEP

etc.

Maybe the issue is size or complexity. By subdividing your model into small model views, it may be possible to generate the RVT files.

Thanks, I'll try this option, as I have no other alternatives so far.

I have tried to close the layers one by one, but some of them are needed for export.

Yes, they will be needed for export.

But you are just experimenting (troubleshooting) to try and find the problem.

Start with next to nothing and gradually add in what you need.

When it breaks, that may give you a clue where to look for the problem.

Now it may just be something in particular in that zone layer or maybe a combination of elements.

So if it is not important leave the layer out.

Otherwise you will have to start deleting zones (or it could be some other element in that layer) to try to determine the problem.
