Archicad-3ds max compatibility

Hello everybody!
I just joined the forum, and I 'm a new user of Archicad, working currently with version 8.0. You may find my question really simple-minded, but you 'd help me if you let me know whether you can export objects made with 3D studio max into ArchiCAD and vice-versa.
I think it would be difficult to model things like, say, hypars on Archicad, and modelling them on 3Ds and then exporting them could save (me) time and trouble. I also think it would be cool to build a model on Archicad and be able to render it on 3Ds, although this seems to be less needed, since as I learn, Archicad 's new release 9 has a very good rendering engine.
Cheers,
Dennis

in form z save as .3ds file type.
In archicad, under Extras, choose "Import 3D studio " option and it will bring it in. In the help menu it reviews some of the options available.

Unfortunately in ArchiCAD 8.0 the import 3ds add-on is not available right out of the box.
There is a link floating around here to the German GS site which has a version of the add-on. If I remember correctly it is to ArchiCAD 8, but I could be wrong?

I can't remember if it was done for ArchiCAD 8.0, but as I said there is a link on this forum right to it, so if you do a search it should bring up some results for you.

HTH.
Cheers.

Export : use *.3ds
Import : use *.3ds

See attachments...

(I did not make any of this. But it was freeware.)

I have a problem understanding the question... but let's try...

If you want to have an ArchiCAD model as a Flash-animation, then you could export the ArchiCAD model into *.3ds or *.dxf and open it in:

- 3ds max and using the Illustrate or Vecta3D or Swift3D plugin export it into a Flash-image or animation.

- XSI, Maya or Lightwave and using the Swift3D plugin to export to Flash

- the standalone version of Swift3D and export to Flash.

But, Swift3D, Illustrate and Vecta3D are not included by default in these applications and they are not free.
