I bought Archicad Start Edition recently, and now I want to buy a 3d plugin. What plugin do you think is better?
The price is more o less equal.
Give me opinions please.
(Sorry for my english)
Many thanks.

Sorry Gemito for hijacking your thread a little.
So... It seems that ZoomGDL was more like a rudimentary GDL graphical editor. I have the impression that if it could have the opportunity to evolve it would certainly become something like the actual Grasshopper.
Anyway... Its never too late to catch old ideas and use them in new ones.
By the quality of this application at that time (2003) I'm pretty sure that Graphisoft team is highly capable to develop something even more revolutionary.

yes man and imagine that we have GDL graphic editor + intellegency (something like in rhino parametrics or sketchup 7 components)
Then i could as architect draw graphicly intelegent GDL objects. By that way AC GDL will not be old anymore...It would be beter then Revit. We could finish our design in archicad. We could easaly all togeter by some time develop SUPER archicad libraray, designed by us. This would be my plan of develop of archicad...but i dont work in GS
And i would make wall editable like at least slab. That i can resize it, make hole, Extrude part of wall...make it strechy like it supouse to be.
GS team need creativity...

Hi Necko

I'm curious about your zoom gdl 2.1
Was that by Artlantis?

Seems like it's still available for around $30us.
here:http://www.soking.us/soft/Product/Pro515.Html

Does that seem correct?
Much thanks.

yes . . . that program was made by abvent and they stoped developing it. If you try to work now in zoomgdl you will realise that UI is so old and clamsy and its so hard to draw acually there.

But if that cost 30 $ (zoomgdl was much more expensive then 30 $). . . and if you are willing to work in a dead program...buy it and test it. Imagine what you can draW with all those commands and import it in archicad as a trully GDL object. Zoom GDL can be started from AC directly but only if you use archicad 8
But it works as a stand alone aplication too

As Necko said it was made by Abvent.
About the $30us version available. IMO I wouldn't pay $30us just to satisfy my curiosity about a dead software... I would try to contact Abvent and ask for a demo version which they probably have in their archive.
My 2cts.

Cheers,

An ArchiForma object is just an object, like any other. ArchiCAD can only insert windows and doors into Wall elements, not objects that look like walls. There are some crazy tricks you can use to combine a window in an invisible wall with other elements and save the assembly as an object ... but the window will not be schedulable - it will just be part of the objects mass.
