AutoCAD user trying to coordinate a Point Cloud file with ArchiCAD user

Anonymous

I have a client that uses ArchiCAD. I am trying to coordinate the location of a Point Cloud file with them but neither one of us know the best way to do this. My client has never used a point cloud in ArchiCAD.

What I have done to locate this point cloud in AutoCAD is, I xref'd the point cloud file (.rcs) into a dwg file that has a grid system inserted. I took that point cloud reference and rotated and moved it to a grid intersection. So I have (x,y,z) coordinates and rotation information.

From what I've been able to find, ArchiCAD uses .xyz or .E57 files. when they import this file can they modify it's location and rotation by entering values I provide them?

Is there a better way to coordinate this?

Also, here is the link to the ARCHICAD YouTube playlist that explains how to use Point Clouds in ARCHICAD (they were introduced about 4 years ago in AC19):
