How do you calculate the SF of a roof? New to estimating in archicad.

Yes. I found a way to list out the properties of the roof, but I wasn't sure which one of the numbers to use. Surface top, surface bottom or surface edge? Also, what exactly is the "surface 3D" amount used for?
