Grid not exporting as part of IFC! How do I include it?

Hi all,

We have had considerable success working with IFCs. We work in Archicad 12 and one problem we have run into is when export IFC to share with our Revit consultants the grid isnt exported.

We use the built in dynamic Archicad tool which does not have an IFC2x3 panel in its attributes, however reading through the IFC 2x3 guids there is a mention of an IFCGRID parameter... however I have not seen this anyplace within the program itself... How do I find it? turn it on? what do I need to do to get the dynamic grid to be exported as part of the IFC?

I have tried turning the grid into polylines that do not export despite having the 2d element choice checked upon export... what am I missing?

Can anyone help ?

There are several tools that don't have IFC settings.

The grid tool and the Mesh tool do not have IFC capabilities. This is problematic.

Also, if you have 'only visible layers' set in the translator, the normally hidden SEO layer does not go through. Even when shown, the relationship between SEO targets and operators is lost.

Ok I figured it out.. you actually have to place the GRID GDL from the general object library.. this grid tool, unlike the dynamic one - HAS an IFC2x3 export attribute panel - YAY!

Although this is very counter intuitive.. most people will probabbly use the GRID tool to place structure and not the object.. so the tool should have IFC capability not the object... in this case it causes us to dismember the grid from the tool and in place put in the object.. or have two grids.. which is cumbersome!
