I had a consultant send me a 2018 AutoCAD file but it is not supported and able to open in my Archicad version 20. What year should the consultant save their file down to or up to so that it will open in my version of Archicad?

Well version 20 was 6 version (years) ago, so that was back in 2016.
I would make a bit of an allowance so I would try 2014.
You can download Autodesk Trueview (it is free but a large download from memory) and you can convert the file to any version you want.
Barry.

Hi @ascolese ,
Autocad file formats have iterations that increase every 5 years on average now (used to be 3). That means that your consultant may be working with Autocad 2022 but the file version is still Autocad 2018 as it is the default one for 2022. The previous file format is 2013 so ask him to downgrade to that one and it will work.

Do note, in regards to TrueView, that it is not available on Mac.
