About model and data exchange with 3rd party solutions: Revit, Solibri, dRofus, Bluebeam, structural analysis solutions, and IFC, BCF and DXF/DWG-based exchange, etc.
Is there a way that I can open an autocad drawing properly in V10 of Archicad? Seems that either he as to move to Archicad or I to autocad.
Help is any is available please.
Regards
The DXF/DWG handling capabilities of Archicad are quite good. A lot of people (including me) regularly exchange data with consultants using the format.
Loving Archicad since 1995 - Find Archicad Tips at x.com/laszlonagy AMD Ryzen9 5900X CPU, 64 GB RAM 3600 MHz, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB, 500 GB NVMe SSD 2x28" (2560x1440), Windows 10 PRO ENG, Ac20-Ac28
yes I can exchange flat data but nothing in 3D. If he sends be a dwg I can only see the TOP view. Is there no way to exchange 3 dimensional data? thanks, Fred
You have to open the DXF/DWG file as a Library Part. But in that case, the 3D model data will be one big chunk and you will not be able to edit or snap to the individualy model elements within it.
This is a limitation in Archicad's DXF/DWG stuff.

Yes I know that, been there and got the T-shirt. Seems then that one of us will have to change, me to autocad or him to archicad. I have a very bad`feeling about this. many thanks for you help,:-)
Tell him to get information about current trends in the industry, and then he will hopefully realize that sooner or later he would have to move to a BIM solution (either Revit or Archicad) to keep up with the competition. So it is probably him who must change. Then, it will be a good choice for him to change to Archicad because then he can work with you. )

oh he knows, in fact he is playing with Revit like many. Its just a shame to not be able to simply share designs. Here in Bulgaria almost all use Archicad 8 and there's another, although seemingly simpler problem to solve. At the moment I'm faced with redrawing a 42 room building. ha such is life. Best, Fred
If your consultant has Revit, he/she can open the 3D AutoCAD file in Revit and export it to IFC. Then open the IFC file in ArchiCAD (10), and it should all be 3D.
