automatically use area fill number elsewhere?

I'm trying to link the numbers that come up for area fills to an info sheet showing areas for different units and different floors. Is there any way to link the area fill number to another sheet? It's a multi fmaily project where the info sheet lists square footages for each unit, each floor, and total sq ft. I'd like a way to get that to automatically update when I adjust the fill. Or can someone come up with something else? I'm tired of adding up one million numbers every other day......thanks a lot

thanks laszlo,

Is there a way to sum up the four fills for a floor on just one line? Instead of it reading:

first floor
first floor
first floor
first floor

it would just read:

first floor #

If you check the Use Headline checkbox, then the first parameter will be used as a headline as shown in the attached image. It will list the value that you set in the Story Settings Dialog so if you change that to Story #1 then that is what will be listed.

I am not sure about the 'sq ft' thing, for me it appears for Totals and the Grand Total, but not for normal values. I did not see any place where it could be set or influenced. I think this might be a bug, or even a feature.

thanks a lot laszlo - looks like the sq ft is something that got added in the newer version you have. No problem. Thanks

You may find it much more productive to use the Zone tool for this purpose. It is after all what the Zone tool was designed for.
Its a single click and will place the room name on the floor plan and use this the schedule the area by any number of different criteria
