my firm is going after a project where the healthcare system is strictly using revit. my goal is to produce the project exlcusively in archicad, export to an IFC using either the built in translator for revit mep or to tweak one of the built in translators so that i can import it into revit without any data or information lose. That is the key, not to loose data or info that is built into my walls, equipment, etc. Is this possible??? after speaking with graphisoft they claim it is and it isnt.....they claim that i need the help of the healthcare systems CAD/BIM department in order to properly do this. Yet the BIM/CAD dept. wants NOTHING to do with archicad, they are revit nazis!!! (probably a bad example) any help would be greatly appreciated.
Get yourself a license of Revit. You will need to do corrections (sometimes even remodel stuff). Some features of Archicad are not well supported by the IFC translator or don't have their equivalent in revit at all. I have recently encountered an issue where the Custom profile wall (slanted but uniquely) were not converted as wall but rather as Proxys. Interestingly it was the Archicad's translator that performed this conversion.
