DGGetItemText and DGSetItemText

I am trying to set and get value from a "TextEdit" control.
In the .grc file I have declared the TextEdit but when I am trying to get the value from the textbox using the DGGetItemText it's not working. And also can't set the value for the textbox.
Can anyone kindly help me on this?
