Are you running Sonoma as your operating system by any chance?
There are problems with Sonoma.

Yes exactly , it is the version 14.1 of the macOS Sonoma

It was recommended not to upgrade to Sonoma until the problems were fixed in Archicad.
There has been a recent update for 27 that I supposed to have fixed some issues, but I have not seen one for 26 yet.
Try turning the CAPS lock button off while editing text.

Hi Angela
We have been experiencing the same issues.
Our "workaround" has been to run Archicad 26 (on Sonoma) without Add-Ons.
We could provoke an instant crash by editing text in Layouts.
By removing Add-ons from the ArchiCad 26 folder we have not experienced a crash so fare.

I'm having the same issue. After seeing your comment I tried removing the Add-ons folder from the ArchiCad 26 folder, but was then unable to open archicad (receiving a failure message indicating Add-ons were missing). I'd appreciate any further advice on how you got this workaround to work. Thanks.

A preview release of update 27.2.0 has just been added.
Give that a try and see if that fixes it.

I emailed Graphisoft.
They instructed me on how to Disable the Sonoma Caps-Lock indicator feature. Now, I can type in ArhiCAD26 without crashing it. 😅
