Tired of spending hours manually dimensioning and labeling your drawings?

Archicad’s smart automation tools let you create consistent, accurate, and up-to-date documentation with just a few clicks.

Here’s how you can boost your productivity and keep errors to a minimum:

Automatic dimensioning

You can apply dimensions to multiple elements at once on floor plans, sections, and elevations.

Exterior dimensioning

  • On the Floor Plan, select the walls you want to dimension.

  • Go to Document > Annotation > Automatic Dimensioning > Exterior Dimensioning.

  • In the dialog box, set your preferences. Check the ‘Place Dimensions on Four Sides’ option to dimension the entire building perimeter.

  • Click on a wall edge to define the direction for the dimension lines.

  • Click again with the cursor to place the dimension lines.

Interior Dimensioning

The process is just as fast for interior spaces. After selecting the interior walls, you simply draw a line across the elements you want to dimension, and Archicad will place the dimension string automatically.

Automatic labeling

Labeling elements is just as easy and efficient, keeping your drawings rich with information that updates as your model evolves.

Labeling Multiple Elements at Once

  • Select the elements you wish to label.
  • Navigate to Document > Annotation > Label Selected Elements.
  • Archicad will attach the default label to all selected items simultaneously.

Using Autotext for Dynamic Labels

Autotext automatically fills in context-specific data like text, numbers, or parameters directly from your model. This ensures that your labels are always up to date.

To use it:

  • Edit a label and type your desired prefix, such as "Fire Rating:".

  • Insert the corresponding Autotext for the property (e.g., Fire Resistance Rating).

  • The label will now automatically display the element's fire rating and update if the element’s properties change.

Zone labeling is also available in section views, which helps maintain clarity and consistency across all your project documentation.

Labeling Curtain Wall Components

To label a specific component within a Curtain Wall:

  • Select the Curtain Wall.
  • Go to Document > Annotation > Label Components of Selected Elements.
  • Check the box for the component you wish to label (e.g., a specific panel or frame).
