Bitmaps being stretched when printing to PDF

I have a problem with bitmap images being stretched in the PDF file printed from ArchiCAD and PlotMaker.
For example, an image which should be scaled 12% gets scaled 11,916% in the horizontal direction and 12,251% in the vertical direction (as indicated in Adobe Illustrator).
Very annoying! What could be the problem?
I use ArchiCAD 9, Win XP and Adobe Acrobat PDFWriter 5.0.

Here is an example.
The red rectangle shows the original bounding box of the picture, which is rotated.
When I created this bounding box, two other problems occured: the image is now reflected (mirrored) around the horizontal axis, and a black rectangle is superimposed!

I have now done some more investigations printing PDF files from PlotMaker with Acrobat Distiller, Acrobat PDFWriter and Amyuni PDF Converter. I have used transparent and non-transparent bitmaps, viewing the PDF's in Acrobat and Ilustrator.
The only satisfying PDF's turned out to be those created with Distiller and Amyuni, with non-transparent bitmaps.
