Can't get my 3d back to its original settings

By some arcane combination of actions, I have created a situation in 3D in which the model is stuck in a straight up floorplan view. I can't get it to move around. I was trying to get back to the settings by which I can rotate the model on its own axis. For some reason I was unable to do this so I was fooling around with the different settings. I don't know what I did, but I need to undo it.

the answer is probably in the 3D navigation setting - if you can't change the view, you are probably stuck in the model editing view - the left-hand box - after checking the "look-at" box.

This is definitely an RTFM......3D window....
