Creating lines with the real scale

Hello,

How do you create a line with a specific dimension.I know how to create a new line symbol, but i have difficulty to have the same scale as draw.

Ex. Rigid insulate of 3 inch thick, i draw the line symbol with the real scale but when i paste it in the line tool it doesn't keep the 3 inch thick.

what is the trick

Sounds more like something you should be using a fill for. Make a surface with the desired cut colour and attach it to a wall/slab favourite of 3". Or include it in a composite.
