Depth cueing in elevation

Is there a function or a workaround for depth cueing in elevations?

The following has recently been introduced for Revit and I'm looking for something similar i.e. a way to graphically indicate elements of the building that are further back from the elevation line with lighter lineweights/fills etc

You can use the Marked distance option in the Elevation Setting.

Another trick you can use is to place a Linear Gradient Fill in your Elevation.
Make the Fill Pattern Pen white, make the Fill Background Pen transparent (0).
Bring the Fill in Display Order to the front so it will cover other elements.
Then you just need to modify the gradient handle line of the Fill.
This will give a gradient effect that is the same as in Revit.

Thanks laszlonagy, that's like the Revit workaround prior to the release in 2017.

Does the marked distance option just show lines in the background rather than lines and fill in a lighter shade?

No, in the Elevation Settings Dialog's Model Display panel there is a "Fill Uncut Surfaces With" option using which you can display surface colors. You can also display Vectorial 3D hatch.

Thanks, what are the different benefits/downsides of each option please?

They are just option for how you want to present your Elevations.
For presentation, I would probably use the shaded options with 3d hatches and shadows.
For construction documentation, I would probably use only 3D hatching, but no surface shading and shadows.

Wish the Marked distance options were available for interior elevations. I don't understand why it isn't.
I mask with a 50% white fill to get the effect.
