Updating my template for 29 and running into something that has bugged me for a while:
When placing Interior Elevations the default settings only let you choose between All Stories or selecting a Story.
Since Interior Elevations almost always only need to be visible on a single story, the default should be the IE gets placed on whatever story it is drawn on, i.e. the Active Story.
Currently, if you want the IE to only show on a single story, you have to select which story will be the default in the tool settings/favorite and if you want to place it on a different story from the default, you need to change that setting before you place it. I have played around with Transfer Settings and the Auto-Detect Zones settings and I can't get it to behave the way I want.
Maybe there is a trick I don't know about. What am I missing?

I don't use IEs but I just tried in 29.
IEs behave like the sections and elevation tools.
If you set the storey in the tool defaults or favourite settings to a particular storey rather than 'all stories' or 'partly in range' before you place the IE, they will go in the storey you have open when you place them.
As you can only place them in plan and you can only have one storey showing, they will go in that storey.
At least that is what they do for me.
So no need to make a wish.
Barry.

Thanks Barry, that does work... sort of. 😉
If you apply the Favorite while on the story that is set in the Favorite, then navigate to a different story, it will place the IE on the active story.
However...
If you apply the Favorite while on a story other than the one set in the Favorite, it will place the IE on the story set in the Favorite.
So if I am on the 2nd Floor story, apply the Favorite, and then place the IE, it will be placed on the 1st Floor.
If I then navigate to the 3rd Floor, it will place subsequent IEs on the 2nd Floor, so it is placing markers relative to the active story, based on which story was active when the Favorite was applied.
The GS USA Template has IEs set to show on All Stories by default. So I guess the assumed workflow is to select the active story in the Show on Stories settings prior to placing the first IE. Then subsequent IE's will be placed on the active story from there.

In your favourite transfer settings, you need to make sure that it is not including the home storey.
Then ensure you are using that transfer set when you use the favourite.

Unfortunately, there is no "Home Story" option in the Element Transfer Setting Dialog for Interior Elevations. The only ones available are Layer, Name, and Reference ID.

That is a problem then.
Sorry I couldn't check as I am on a laptop that does not have Archicad installed.
So that means the favourite has to be set to use all stories?
As it worked when I didn't use a favourite, if the favourite can be saved for a particular storey then maybe use a favourite to get the IE settings and then just change to the storey that you want it to go on.
So that may mean activate the favourite, change from the current storey if that is where you want the IE to go and then change back to that storey.
That should effectively change the storey in the tool settings.
I will check soon when I have Archicad available.
Barry.
