OSX, Permissions and AC9

I know file access permissions on OSX have been the subject of many posts, and the answer to many niggling problems. (niggling???). But I want to visit the topic again, perhaps from a fresh angle.

My server config is setup to have newly created files and folders inherit the access config of the enclosing folder. Owner is whoever is creating the new item. Typically, all our documents and folders are set to allow read/write for groups, and we have established a group for all our CAD users. (this config is setup and carried out with Sharepoints, using plain old OSX peer-to-peer networking. In other words, no OSX Server running).

When creating folders, or new docs from non-Graphisoft apps, I get the expected behaviour.

But when working in ArchiCAD and Plotmaker I get different results.
Specifically, when ArchiCAD creates a new library part, and when Plotmaker creates new files (PDF's, in this case) resulting from a Publisher event, the new files allow no group access, even though my enclosing folder allows groups to read/write.

Does this mean that AC and PM specifically sets the file modes, thus abandoning whatever modes the OS may have set?

If so, @#$^%@#$%^#$%&$#@YW...does this HAVE TO HAPPEN????

Is there perhaps a bit I can flip somewhere to not have AC and PM mangle my workday?

It looks like you're battling some of the same issues that have plagued us.

If you haven't already, see our discussion thread:
