Placing walls by cores

Greetings,
Why is it that you cannot place a wall based on the core rather than the face? I see the dimension to core option, but when placing walls I usually go to face of framing rather than finish, but I still want the finish to show. Any suggestions?

Would the offset reference line help? Just offset the ref line by the non-core thickness of one side. In the settings dialog at the upper right.

Possible trouble: Detection of the framing intersections rather than the surface intersections is unreliable at some wall junctions, T's for example. For this reason, I don't draw stud walls this way, though I do dimension the cores. I would rather use the reliable outside surfaces and mentally subtract the 1/2" on each side. YMMV.

You would need to know the required offset rather than the offset being defined by the particular composite being used.
