Plotmaker 'adding' lines

Anonymous

I have been having a prob with Version 9 and my drawing files. In short, an electrical plan is fine in archicadd, and as we want it to appear in CDs. When I place this plan in Plotmaker, there are additional "arcs, lines" added to the image/file.

I have gone from story to story, to find if there is an oddball arc somewhere, and it is throwing numerous tangent points off an arc....I have no 'stray' elements floating around, and out there. It's appears as if it is throwing out an arbitrary anchor point out into space.

The building was started on the archicadd 0,0 mark.
I have deleted ALL arc lines and redrawn them.
I have deleted the file from Plotmaker, and re-imported it.
I have gotten rid of all stray lines, elements, etc from the file.
I have detached all xref files from archicadd file.
I have unlinked all modules.

What is going on here, and what else could I do to fix this?
thanks-Kathleen

Hi Kathleen

What version of ArchiCAD are you running? What is the build number? You can find it in the Navigator. In the Project Map go down to the bottom open up the Help section and double click on About. You can also find it at the bottom of the Help menu.

I would recommend including it in your signature like other people here. Do it quick before our fearless moderator sees this and gives you his canned 'Please include you specs....!' post!

The reason why I ask about the build number is because I vaguely recall this being an old bug that was fixed by updating ArchiCAD. You could try it anyway. Go to Help > Check for Updates... and follow the prompts. You'll need to be online.

How are you placing your drawing on a layout? Are you using PMK's or linking directly to a view of the model?

Whereabouts in Montana are you?

Cheers,
Link.

Kathleen,
Something similar happened to me in an 8.1 project in plotmaker.
I found arcs and lines that were not in the AC project.
I found that an autoscripted 2D object that I had made using
splines had been "exploded" in plotmaker and the splines
had been changed from open splines to closed splines
and appeared like large arcs.
When I deleted all instances of this library part there were no
more arcs in the plotmaker file.

I should have mentioned, that the first thing I did was check for updates (I do have Build: 2219 on Archicad 9) when this started happening.

I am placing views by directly linking to a view of my file.
I also don't have any 2D spline object in the file. At one point, I did have an autocadd file referenced in, put had removed that and all associated layers a long time ago-and I seem to recall that the arcs/lines were showing up before I had attached this autocadd file.

In some plots, the lines/arc are going to a common point, down off my titleblock. Looks like an isometric gone very wrong.

I will check my library as a final resort. Otherwise, I'm all out of ideas.
thanks-Kathleen

I just reviewed Kathleen's project file and the problem she is seeing exists in AC 10 as well as AC 9 build 2219. So, this seems like a bug. I've suggested that she contact GSUS Tech Support with the files...

You can see the mystery splines in the attached screenshot of the layout. None of the dashed splines inside the red 'blob' exist in the file.

An interesting thing to have found out is that the Project Preview window in ArchiCAD also shows these weird splines, which are not visible in the associated plan view. Somehow related to circles and/or splines, but not clear which after a quick review...one time they went away after deleting splines. Another time, they didn't go away until deleting circles. Bizarre.

If anyone has ideas for her in the meantime, please post here. 😉
