Shortcut for H and V length

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi,

In AC9, when drawing (say) a rectangle polyline I could specify the height and width by using the "X" and "Y" shortcut on the keyboard. But in AC10, X and Y refer to the X and Y co-ordinates (and hence my polysquare ends up in the wrong place with the wrong dimensions).

I can't seem to find the shortcut for Length - H and Length - V. Could somebody help me out?

Thanks!

Using the Tab key, (and Shift+Tab) will toggle through all values in the Tracker, assuming you have the Tracker on...

Hopefully, this is what you are after...

I suspect that the problem is relative versus absolute coordinates as set in the coordinate box.

check the delta box and see if the behavior changes.

Yes, I have the Tracker on and I know I could Tab, but I was hoping to get a more direct shortcut. (Old habits die hard?)

I tried changing various combinations of setting and un-setting the two Delta boxes, but that didn't seem to help. When I press X I get sent to the X cordinate in the Tracker and if I change that value, the Length value also changes automatically (to the "wrong" value).

Did you try the age old, but rarely used (or known) x+/- and y+/- ?

On my system, if the Tracker is on, you can just start typing a value and it goes right into the "H" field; NO NEED FOR A SHORTCUT. Then Tab to V.

really? shocking!

what happens when your grid is skewed to 45º? which way is 'H' and which is 'V'?!

Djordje & Richard, Thanks!

I think I see what Alan was pointing out too- as in Tab directly to the Tracker. I thought he meant press "x" and then Tab to the Length - H.. doh.

Typing "X" and "Y" seems to work for a skewed grid (or normal for that matter)
Type a for angle,
d for distance (also the legacy r)
