Window marker visibility on Multiple floors

Hello!

I am using AC12 & for a particular project need to show markers of windows on all upper storeys on the ground floor

Is there any way by which i can achieve this?

Nevertheless I am going to simply write window tags of upper floors as text. But if there is a way out then it will be a lot of help especially as a lot of changes are expected and updating everytime is an issue.

Thank You
Ameya

hi ameyaj,

i am going to suggest that this could be done in the layout view rather than model view as follows:

- use associative labels (under listing and labeling tab in the window dialog box) as window markers (instead of the dimension marker). Adjust settings for window labeling in the label dialogue box first). This will place an associative label on a specified layer.

- save a view map of the first floor with only label layer showing; include a hotspot that references a known point on the ground floor (e.g. site or building corner).

- place view on layout on top of ground floor view (check that transparent background is set and align drawings using hotspot);

- group the two drawings together so that if you move them in the future they move together (assuming you have groups switched on);

however,

the problem with this method is this: although labels can be set to be created on a different layer to the walls that contain the windows, it seems if the wall layer is hidden, the associative labels also disappear (even though the label's layer is not hidden).

If you explode the label elements, the above method would work, however you would obviously lose the association of label to window and, if you changed window name in future, would have to manually change the labels (which, depending on the number of windows can be time consuming, annoying and ripe for creating discrepancies in documents if you miss some).

Maybe someone on the forum that's more familiar with the label tool function can advise if there's a way to show associative label layers on their own. It seems counter-intuitive to me that it's permanently linked to visibility of subjects' layer.

Hello kombibob,

Sorry for not replying earlier
thank you for your suggestion, I will definitely try it out.

I have not used associative labels before.

I have found another way out actually. I have placed door window markers as independent objects and used custom text to mark all the windows. That way I the drawing looks the way I intend it to. Plus the markers adapt well to the 2-3 different scales that the drawing is needed.

I did not know how to get the marker as an independent object, i did not find it in the basic object or 2d element library. So i extracted the library and loaded the marker back as an independent object. Only problem is that i have to put up with the message that it is a duplicate library part every time i open the drawing.

Thank you again.
