archiCAD 13: Automatic Dimensioning Issues

I'm working through the BIM Experience Kit-ITG and can't seem to activate automatic dimensioning whilst doing the 8.2 exercise. I've consulted the reference guide, I can perform manual dimensioning but still can't get automatic dimensioning working!! (and I'm following all the steps in the exercise)

Any ideas??

Are you selecting the elements before you try to use the automatic dimension?

Personally I wouldn't worry about auto dimensions.
They are not perfect and I find that by the time I find and fix the problem dimensions and then move them to insert some internal auto dimensions then I might just as quickly have dimensioned the job manually.
At least that way I get exactly the dimension I want where I want it.
