"Error while generating view in ArchiCAD"

Every existing link in my previously perfectly working LBKs now gives this message. Importing new drawings from QuickViews in my PLNs also gives the error as does importing into different LBK files.

Everything is on my local machine, nothing on the server.

Anyone seen this??

No, I didnt alter any directory names in the paths....

I'm getting frustrated, the error message is so totally UNHELPFUL

Any help appreciated

We got this the other day in our office. Try force quitting the Background Archicad application and then re-updating the file. This worked for us. It saved us from having to do a complete restart, which should also work.

We've experienced the same problem. Error reading file. Out of about 45 tries doing it different ways, it seemed to somehow work about 4 times while starting ArchiCAD in the background and simultaneously updating, or while opening the pln in archicad.
We have temporarily resorted to publishing to pmk out of ArchiCAD and importing the pmk into the lbk.

Thanks for the help.

A restart did the trick though this is (as you imply) a real hassle. My OSX machine typically stays on for months at a stretch --even most installs don't require restarts. I have scads of things running and just relaunching all of this stuff and getting back in my familiar environment takes quite a bit of time. A real distraction. Next time I'll try the forced quit. Thanks again!

Another possible solution is to clear the graphisoft cache and the preference files for AC and PM. This will create a new set of both files/folders. I usually do this after updating the prog so that i don't inherit problems from previous preferences files.
And since I have not seen your type of problem in a long while it might help.
