text size in plotmaker

I have been pasting in some text from Word into Plotmaker 9 and noticed that the text size is displayed as a phsical size (7/64") versus a point size. I have not noticed this before and was curious why this is the case?

When you see text in inches rather than points it is scaled rather than fixed size text. There is a switch in the text settings dialog. Click it and the units will change.

Is there any functional difference between the two in PM? I understand the difference in AC where the scale can change, but when working in PM there is no scale. Thanks.

I haven't really fooled around with it much. I believe that the scaled text will always resize relative to the current scale, while the fixed size text only resizes if the option is checked in the settings drawing dialog.

Yes, but for text created in or pasted into PM there is no scale to respond to and yet the text settings still has this fixed v. scaled choice. I don't get it.

There is always a scale. On the layout it is 1:1.

Fair enough. But you cannot change it so I'm still confused as to how or why text in PM can be scaled. As far as I can tell the only difference this setting makes is whether the size is displayed in inches or points when the units are imperial. If the units are metric there appears to be no affect whatsoever. Perhaps I'm missing something. I'm right in the middle of working on our PM template for AC 9 and I'd like to know if there is any practical reason to set the text on master layouts one way or the other.
