SOLVED!

Can't use keyboard shortcuts in my EDU ArchiCAD 28

I was sent by Graphisoft support to this webpage claiming that "support doesn't solve issues like this". The problem is, whenever i start ArchiCAD, my shortcuts don't work. At all. They started working after some time once and then stopped after closing and booting the program again.
It is really hindering as even though I can move objects through context menu instead of using the Ctrl+D shortcut, this doesn't apply to e.g. scaling, which I need to find in a whole different menu thus distracting myself from my work. What's even worse, my ArchiCAD doesn't respond to axis coordinates input. I press X or Y on my keyboard and nothing happens even though the keys themselves do work in the program (e.g. in a text field), so I can't really do presice placing of the objects as it was possible in ArchiCAD 27.
I don't know what lead to shortcuts working that one time and I cannot replicate this outcome, as well as I still can't use axis input. I would genuinely like my version of the program just work properly and would be thankful for any help.

Hello Alexc,

It sounds like you work on a Windows system.

The shorcut "Shift alt" is a Windows one to cycle between Keyboard multiple definitions.

Disable all the Keyboard definitions except for the one you need,

Greetings,
Shift+Alt combination switches between languages, not definitions, and doesn't help me in my problem. I know because I tried that before.
Thanks for reply.

Maybe you have other programs running that are hi-jacking the keys?

Hello and sorry for not replying for a long time, in the end I sticked with opening key shortcuts menu and switching my keyboard language to english while the menu was open. Now there is a much easier solution that I marked as accepted solution. Despite choosing another solution I'm grateful for your participation.

Hi Alexc,

Verify the "Inspector Shortcuts for coordinates" Checked box in your working environment, if unchecked Shortcuts won't open it..

Hello and sorry for not replying for a long time. I think I checked this and it didn't helped but I can't tell for sure now after so much time. In the end I sticked with opening key shortcuts menu and switching my keyboard language to english while the menu was open. Now there is a much easier solution that I marked as accepted solution. Despite choosing another solution I'm grateful for your participation.

Close the software and open it while the typing alphabet is set to english. This is a centuries old bug.

Hello and sorry for not replying for a long time. I think the method you mentioned did work once, but I was unsatisfied with the time it took me so in the end I sticked with opening key shortcuts menu and switching my keyboard language to english while the menu was open.. Now there is a much easier solution that I marked as accepted solution. Despite choosing another solution I'm grateful for your participation.
