About half the times that I use my long established (and used to work fine) keyboard shortcuts to 'drag a copy' or 'rotate a copy' - the quick palette pops up & gives me a bunch of options rather than letting me do what I've already 'commanded' to do.. One of the options when i try to 'drag a copy' is even TO 'drag a copy' but the palette ignores its own options as well. How do I get this annoyance to go away?

When you say "Quick Palette", what do you mean exactly? Do you mean the Pet Palette? Can you post a screenshot?
What keyboard shortcuts do you use? Could they interfere with default shortcuts that activate commands in the Pet Palette?

I mean the pop-up palette. I use keyboard shortcuts I set decades ago (shift command D for drag a copy & shift command E for rotate a copy) & they are set correctly, but sometimes they just don't work & I try & try & check my keys & all, but there is no reason for the problem. The fact that it won't even let me make the same selection from the pop-up palette indicates to me that it's a bigger glitch. I can't make it happen either, so I'm trying to get a screen capture when it happens (this is a screen capture I forced, but it wasn't doing it at the time), but since I posted it hasn't happened again. This is the type of pop-up palette I meant, though. It was happening all morning yesterday.

That is the context menu when you right mouse click after invoking the left mouse click pet palette.
Are you saying when you left mouse click, you are not seeing this pet palette?
If so, it is probably there but may be in an obscure place on your screen or possibly on a a second monitor.
Check your Work Environment settings and change it to 'Follow Cursor' if it is not already.
And set the distance so it is not 'Far' from the cursor.

Thanks. I will try this changed setting - but I did not right or left click to get this menu.
I've been asked to provide a screen capture of the palette that appears & I can't make it appear while I'm trying to find a solution so.I right clicked to show what a pop up palette looks llike but it's not that same palette when it pops up.
It only happens when no one is trying to help me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
This is happening immediately after I keyboard short cut) to drag a copy. It gets that I'm dragging a copy but wont let me set the copy down.
When I click to set it down - a menu pops up & in that menu is an option to 'drag a copy' but even if i click that - it wont let me set the copy down.
My current solution is to hit escape like 5 times, sacrifice a hand full of grey hairs on the alter of 2025 computer glitches, breathe out as deeply as possible, and then SOMETIMES I try again & it works but not for long.
It really feels like my brand new mac studio just can't handle it when I work fast b/c it's devoted all it's energies to the AI instead.

Ahh, now you mention you are on a MAC.
You should add this to your signature or mention this in every post.
I should have picked up on the COMMAND+D shortcut.
I know nothing about MACs, except they are strange to us Windows folk! 😉
The menu you show is the right mouse click menu.
So you COMMAND+D to drag and you can start to move the element.
But you can't left mouse click to place the element.
Do you have one of those strange MAC magic mice with no buttons?
If so it seems to me that it is confusing the left and right clicks (again I have no idea how MACs work).
There have been other posts here where programs running in the background can affect Archicad keyboard shortcuts - especially on a MAC it seems.
I am wondering if your mouse is not set up properly (that is what it seems like to me) or there is a program running in the background that is altering the Archicad shortcuts.
I think someone familiar with MACs will have to take over from here.

The menu I screencaptured was NOT the exact menu that pops up. I screen captured it as a stand in to explain what I mean by 'pop up palette' b/c I can't make this happen when I want to show you what the actual pop up looks like.
I'm really regretting making a screen capture at all now because it's gotten things off course.
But yes - when I 'command+shift+D' as set inside Archicad as my 'drag a copy' shortcut - SOMETIMES it does not work. Sometimes it does.
I do have the magic mouse with no buttons but this problem hasn't happened for years until I switched to ArchiCAD 27 when I bought the new mac. So this might be a mac problem - which wouldn't surprise me.

I am not on Mac either, so if it is something Mac-specific, I will not be able to help.
But from the screenshot you posted, it does look like the right mouse button was activated because that is the only way that context menu (what you called Quick Palette) appears with those options during a Drag-a-Copy operation. So, maybe you are trying to click the left mouse button but instead the right mouse button is activated? Can you try it with another mouse to see if that (or maybe the mouse driver) is the issue?

Can you work with another mouse to see if the program occurs then?
If it does not occur with a normal mouse, then the issue may be specific to the Magic Mouse.
