Hi everyone,
I’m working on a renovation project in Archicad and have encountered a limitation with the Renovation feature.
My question is: Is it possible to assign different Renovation Statuses to individual components of a single door assembly?
For example, I have an existing door where I need to:
Keep the existing door frame, classified as EXISTING.
Demolish only the door leaf, classified as TO BE DEMOLISHED.
As far as I can tell, Archicad assigns Renovation Status to the entire door object, rather than allowing separate statuses for its individual components.
The project involves a building dating from around 1900, with an existing barn door that has specific historical characteristics. Therefore, I had to model the door manually rather than use a standard door element from Archicad, in order to accurately represent the existing construction.
To achieve the desired result, I had to model the door frame and door leaf as separate objects:
Model the door frame using a slab.
Save the frame selection as a Door object via File → Libraries and Objects → Save Selection As → Door.
Model the door leaf separately and save it as a Door object as well.
Place both objects separately in the model.
Assign EXISTING to the door frame and TO BE DEMOLISHED to the door leaf.
Although this works, it requires additional modelling and object preparation for something that seems like a relatively common situation in renovation projects.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice from the community.
Thank you!

Nope.
You could make a wish for this. GS has shown that it is possible for heirachical elements with the addition of componenet level Renovation Status for stairs in the release of AC30 and there have been long standing wishes for a Door and Window overhaul.
Regarding renovations, there is a long term wish for renovation breakdown of Composites and Complex Profiles, which you can see over here.
