Hi All,
Apologies if this is not the appropriate forum for this topic.
We are a 3D modeling & drafting firm who has used and modeled in Revit for approx. 8+ years. However our clients would like us to produce the same projects in ArchiCAD.
We have just hired our first ArchiCAD modelers who are very excited to start, however my question is Revit is notorious for being version specific and client rarely upgrade due to cost etc. We currently model in Revit 2022 and some clients in Revit 2020, as you cannot back date a project for example from Revit 2025 to Revit 2022. The worst case for us is to supply a model in 2024 and the client used 2022 for example.
What would the best and most commonly used ArchiCAD version be to model in? Bearing in mind we do all our project based from point clouds?
Thank you in advance

You can backsave 1 version at a time in AC. Not sure what impacts this has going from AC28 to AC27 due to the library architecture changes...
Since you are just starting with AC, you will most likely be starting a new subscription to the software since that is the only option now... This limits you to AC26+ I think since cloud licences are not compatible before then and GS no longer gives the option of software or hardware licences. Given AC28 was the last version you could purchase a perpetual licence as a new customer, there will probably be a decent number there. AC30 is the last perpetual version for existing customers at the time of the change over, though a number may decide to not renew AC29 to get it given the majority of features are limited to being on subscription and the price has gone up significantly...

Are you going to be collaborating with other companies that use Archicad?
If so, use the same version they are using.
If not, then I would use the latest version which is 29.

of the dozen or so firms I have contact with on a regular basis, all but 2 are on AC29. I do have computers running AC back to v18, but have not had to open anything older than AC25 in over a year.
I would suggest defaulting to the latest version/build, unless requested otherwise.
