Starting with Archicad 28, the Built-in Generic Template is a direct copy of the International (INT) Template, available in all regions. This means that unless you use a localized Online Template, your new projects will use the global INT version, which may differ from the templates used in previous regional releases.
In markets where Online Templates are available, it is recommended to use them for a more localized and market-specific solution. These templates are tailored to regional standards and workflows, ensuring your projects align with local practices and documentation requirements.
- Regions with Online Templates (provided by Graphisoft or its partners )
AUS, AUT, BRA, CHE, CZE, FRA, GER, JPN, NED, NOR, NZE, POL, SWE, UKI, USA - A key advantage of Online Templates is that Graphisoft can update and improve templates independently of Archicad's release cycle, ensuring you work with the latest standards.
Selecting a Template in the New Project Dialog
In the New Project dialog, you can choose between three types of templates under the Create a New Project From > Template drop-down:
- The Built-in Generic Template – marked with a gear icon. This is the default template installed with Archicad and is a clone of the INT template.
- The Online Template – marked with a globe icon. This template is downloaded from an online repository, ensuring you always have access to the most up-to-date localized version.
- When Archicad is online, these Online Templates automatically appear and are selected by default in the New Project dialog. Once downloaded, they are stored locally for offline use, but updates will only occur when Archicad reconnects to the internet.
- Recently Opened Templates – lists templates that you have used or opened recently. This may include your own custom templates, templates downloaded from third-party sources, or templates from other regions that you have manually browsed for and opened previously.
Downloading Templates Manually
If the Online Template does not appear in your New Project dialog, or if you wish to explore templates from other regions, you can manually download them from the BIM Content > Cross-Border Cooperation section on the Graphisoft Downloads page.
