Archicad 30 on macOS 27 Golden Gate

Dear Customers,

As we prepare for the release of Archicad 30, we would like to share important information about using it on macOS 27 Golden Gate.

Based on our current compatibility testing, Archicad 30 is compatible with macOS 27, with one known issue that may affect the creation of new projects. Archicad 29 is compatible with macOS 27 and is not affected by this issue. Archicad 28 and earlier versions have not been tested on macOS 27, and therefore, their compatibility cannot be confirmed.

We recommend reviewing the information below before upgrading a production Mac or deploying macOS 27 across your organization.

Archicad

  • Creating a new project may cause Archicad 30 to crash: On macOS 27, Archicad 30 may occasionally crash when you select New in the Starter window. Restarting your Mac usually resolves the issue. If it persists after restarting, open an existing project file instead of creating a new project through the Starter. Apple has acknowledged this as an operating-system issue and plans to address it in a future macOS update. In parallel, we are investigating possible measures on our side to reduce the impact and provide the most reliable experience possible for Archicad 30 users. Archicad 29 is not affected by this issue.

  • Installer log message: The Archicad installer log may display “Current operating system: OS X unknown.”This message does not affect the installation or operation of Archicad.

BIMcloud

  • Local network access: macOS may block local network discovery through its privacy settings, preventing Archicad from finding or connecting to BIMcloud. To allow access, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and enable the setting for every installed version of Archicad.

  • When upgrading an Apple Silicon Mac running BIMcloud to macOS 27, Rosetta gets removed from the Mac. Even if Rosetta was installed on an earlier version of macOS, it must be installed again after the upgrade. Rosetta is currently required for BIMcloud installations hosted on Apple-silicon Macs. If it is not installed, BIMcloud may either fail to start or operate correctly. To reinstall Rosetta, open any Intel-based application and follow the installation prompt. For Apple’s official instructions, see Use Rosetta to run Intel-based apps on a Mac with Apple silicon.

  • On-premises BIMcloud support: macOS 27 is planned to be the final macOS version supported for on-premises BIMcloud. For context and further details, please see the relevant Community Insights post.

BIMx

BIMx Desktop has been tested on macOS 27 and is compatible based on our test results. We are not aware of any issues affecting BIMx Desktop; however, we will continue monitoring its performance and will communicate any newly identified limitations.

For further details and the latest news, please see the macOS 27 Golden Gate compatibility article.

Sincerely,
