Top Community tips of the year

Dear Community members,

Throughout the year, our Tip of the Month series brought you a wide range of practical workflows and clever solutions for everyday Archicad tasks. To wrap up the year, we’re looking back at three standout tips — the ones you liked most and found especially useful.

#1 Auto-number elements using a polyline in Archicad

Suggested by @Mathias Jonathan, this guide introduces a smart way to automatically number elements based on their position along a polyline. Instead of assigning IDs manually, elements follow a defined sequence along a chosen path. This workflow keeps your documentation consistent, minimizes manual errors, and speeds up tasks — especially in linear projects such as roads, corridors, or site layouts.

#2 Custom slope symbol object for site plans

This tip from @Yves introduces a custom slope symbol object optimized for site plans. It allows you to clearly display slope direction and percentage with better precision and readability than manual drafting. The object is adjustable, supports different project needs, and helps produce cleaner and more professional site documentation.

#3 Using fills in symbol fill definitions

An insight from @Laszlo Nagy reveals how fills can be used inside symbol fill definitions to improve graphic quality. By combining fills with lines and hotspots, you can create richer, more expressive visuals without stacking multiple elements. The result is more clarity, easier management, and smoother documentation workflows.

These tips proved especially valuable to our Community members, and we hope they’ll continue to support your daily projects as well. Thank you to everyone who contributed and shared insights throughout the year! If you haven’t explored these tips yet, dive in, share your feedback, and stay tuned — we’re already preparing more practical ideas for next year.
