Archicad 17 installation doesn't start

Hello, I am doing IT support for a small company and after a Windows crash we had to reinstall everything including Archicad 17.
OS is Win7 64-bit with all updates, other requirements are fullfilled (same PC that had Archicad 17 installed before a system crash).

When I try to install Archicad 17 from CD, launcher starts, I get the "gears pic" (see attached pic) and The selected installer package is being installed on your computer. Please be patient...". It closes after 20 or so seconds and nothing happens.

When I try to start the installer directly from \Archicad17\setup.exe nothing happens as well. Antivirus was disabled or uninstalled completely.

Tried the installation on 2 different computer but got the same results.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Your JAVA version may be too new.
Archicad is a bit fussy about what version of Java is installed.
Try deleting it.
The Archicad installation should install the version it needs - if not it is on the installation disk.
You can upgrade Java again after you have installed.

Hello Barry,
you were correct! After uninstalling newest Java, I was able to install Archicad without problems. Updated Java after installation and it works well.

Thank you for your help, much apprectiated.

Hi Barry

Thanks a lot for your input regarding the Installation trouble.
It worked for me as well
(AC17 on windows 8.1 - OSX and AC17 may have the same issues.)

Cheers
