Archicad 28 is constantly freezing or crashing, diving a Direct3D / graphics card error.
Archicad 27 and Archicad 26 do not have the same problem.
I've updated graphics drivers, and uninstalled / reinstalled Archicad to no avail.
I get the same error every time; sometimes, it's within seconds of opening the program. Other times, it can take several minutes. But it happens multiple times a day.
'Direct3D Runtime received a Device Removed Message DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG'
That's typically an issue with either the graphics card itself or the graphics card's connection the rest of the machine. However, this is the *only* program experiencing the problem, which is usually indicative of a glitch in the program or an incompatibility between the program and the graphics drivers.
These are two of the smallest projects I've ever done in Archicad, and the only two on 28 so far. Archicad 28 appears to be sending conflicting instructions to the GPU, which causes it to hang. No other programs are effected when it happens; in some instances, when it happens in one Archicad 28 file, it doesn't even impact the *other* Archicad 28 file I've got open.

Disabling background rebuild / model update all but eliminated it. Combined with a drivers update from NVIDIA, it *appears* to no longer be an issue for me, but I'm not going to risk it.

We have the same problem.
Latest NVIDIA Studio Driver 572.16 on RTX 3060 GPUs.
One user with a Surface Laptop Studio GeForce RTX 3050 Ti.
Happens maybe twice a week.
Seems like it does not matter which user or which project.
Maybe this is a coincidence, but it does not happen for our Intel Iris users, so maybe the issue is with NVIDIA?
NVIDIA is the only common denominator.

- It looks like it has something to do with NVIDIA RTX cards. Updating drivers and managing energy settings didn't help.
- It also must be a new ArchiCAD 28 feature. It never happend on 27.
I would guess Graphisoft has overseen something in variants or physical renderer. I use both. Does someone elso with this error use them too?

Sometimes I am performing a clean driver instalation using DDU Display Driver Uninstaller
https://www.guru3d.com/files/category/videocards-handy-utilities/
In safe mode it cleans registry, files, settings, etc.
In case something has gone wrong with the GPU driver.

Appreciate it @Botonis, but since so many users are affected, I doubt this is a hiccup during driver installation.

I see the majority of the users are using laptops.
I never had a problem with GPU and Archicad.
Have you tried to disable the totally the, through bios the basic GPU of the motherboard (or the internal GPU of CPU).
How to know if laptop is MUXed or MUXless:

Basically the latests laptops are all muxless.

I totally agree on this. There must be a problem within ArchiCAD. We are also using high end software like twinmotion with raytracing features and everything but we never had any issues outside of ArchiCAD with our machines. Also ALL our machines are effected by this error. We also use different cards. It happens on both RTX 4070ti and RTX 3060.

Idk what you mean by this exactly, but as I said we already disabled every energy saving option.
