Funny noise when rotating 3D view in Powerbook

I'm using the trackpad on a Pb G4 1.66. When I navigate the axo in a 3D view I hear a sort of rusty ballbearings noise. I thought it was produced by pressing and holding the trackpad but it's not --it only happens when moving around on the 3D.
Should I be concerned about a creaky video card or something?

i hope not! it happens to me whenever i'm doing anything video intensive. it started with OSX 10.2 years ago. when i upgraded the cat started purring! i started a thread on apple's support forums that got really quite long, but the outcome was, 'don't worry about it guys'. i've lived with it on various powerbooks ever since. the conclusion was that it's either the cooling unit on the ATI chip or interference in the speakers caused by the graphics chip hitting the afterburners . . .

when did you notice it?

Phew! I never thought anybody else would have gone through this. It's so weird. I had a 1.33 laptop for a year and never noticed it, but I can't say the sound wasn't there. That laptop died about a month ago (the hard disk died, without a backup, and even Drivesavers couldn't do anything about it so I am a bit sensitive about hardware problems), and a couple of days ago I noticed the funny noise for the first time. It was not a big project that I was spinning around, it was a the 3D view window in an object, but it was late at night and everything was very silent.
The speakers interference idea sounds like a good explanation (to me, who know nothing about hardware). It did sound like speakers sound.
