How to set up a scroll wheel mouse to work with AC 9

I have just purchased a new Microsoft Optical Wireless mouse 2.0.

I cannot seem to use the scroll wheel as a button to pan in AC 9.0 like I was able to do with the default mouse.

I am on Windows XP Home. I set the mouse up on a Mac Powerbook 17" to use ignore the Intellimouse features just in AC and I got the ability to pan using the scroll wheel button. I cannot find the same settings in Windows XP.

Can anyone help me set up this or any similar mouse to pan using the scroll wheel button?

1. Install the driver for the new mouse, not a Windows substitte.

2. In the mouse program choose Middle botton for the scroll.
