I have an early 2008 Mac Pro and want to update. Was disappointed about yesterday's release from Apple. Should I wait for the next round which is supposed to be next year but who really knows for sure....

Thanks for posting that. Didn't realize the gtx 285 had specs like that and 1gb memory. Yeah. I'd just stick with it... To add to your concerns about ati, you may have seen the posts and wiki article about antialiasing being disabled in 16 on macs with ati cards...

I installed a new SSD and increased my ram to 16G. It is now noticeably faster and much more responsive.

Karl: How do you arrange your backups? I now have my archived files on a separate disk and my main apps and current projects on the SSD. What strategy to you use on your Mac Pro?

Thanks!

Dan, I primarily use Time Machine - it will back up multiple volumes just fine.
