New computer problem!!!

Not applicable
I just bought a new HP about a month ago. Everything seemed to be going good, but then it just starts acting strange. Giving all kinds of error messages and causing Archicad to freeze up and give a negative image. I have a HP Pavilion dv8110 notebook, running XP home (ordered XP Pro), 2 GB ddr 3200 ram, ATI x-press 200m 128 mb video card, an AMD turion 64 processor at 1.8 ghz.

If anyone has any knowledge of this, please comment or point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Justin

What's the matter? It told you twice, already, that there's an error in the LightWorks Rendering Engine. That would be the failure of Graphisoft to implement radiosity.....

I'd be restarting ArchiCAD and reloading the project, then resaving it with a new name.

Problem persists - a corrupt element that is illogically formed - the engine can't resolve it. Hide objects.

Problem persists - an impossible calculation - could be, like, 50 layers of high-refraction glass or something. Try a normal method rendering - this will have NO transparency. Refraction is a big resource hog.

Video card? Hows it working for ya???
Well I don't know about all that- but I trust if Dwight says so, he's the man about this stuff... wot?

HOWEVER- I've got a question for ya: how is that ATI 200m video working out for ya with 3d stuff? I'm about to pick up a few of these dv8000 series for work, and they are difficult to find with the Nvidia Geforce 7400-7600's with the dedicated RAM- almost all of these dv8000 series are the ATI 200m IGP's... Great for office apps, but, in a CAD environment?

I did a search and you're the only on one here who has mentioned that you're using an ATI 200m IGP! So your word and review is GOLD.

Thanks!

I put this laptop to sleep about a year ago. The ATI 200m worked ok for Archicad 9, but it is only a 128m card. I would definitely go with something more powerful. For what I paid for that laptop, you can buy something a lot better now.
