P4 Hyperthreading

Does anybody know if switching on Hyperthreading on P4 processors causes any problems or makes any (speed) difference to Lightworks rendering in AC9? I'm scared to try without asking first!
Thanks in advance for any response.

Man O Man...
You have a P4 with HT rig and you dont have the HT activated in the system BIOS?
Why? I must ask.
You have it, you paid extra for a HT cpu, might as well use it.
It wont blow up the machine with it switched on.

IMHO..... the P4 with HT cpus help some if you multitask but are no way near the performance a good dual cpu computer. ( Xeon, Athlon , Apple G4, G5)

Maybe those Extreme Edition P4s wtih 2mb cache are just as good as a dualie?

I ran tests when I got my machine nearly 2 years ago, and found that C4D rendered about 15% faster with HT enabled.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't want it on.
