!Restored: Start-up and shut-down issues in AC9

So I have two issues not sure if they are related or not:
First, everytime I start AC9, at the start-up dialog box, I do not get any recent files to choose from, I always have to browse to find a project, or start a new one. This only happens in AC, in PM I do get my recent files showing up.
Second, everytime I quit AC or PM (or when BG AC quits on its own in the background) it crashes, giving me both the Graphisoft Bug Reporter, and the Apple bug reporter. I don't seem to lose any info.
The no recent files shown thing is new since we upgraded to AC9. The shut down crashes, started several months ago in AC8.1. I tried reinstalling AC 8 back then but gave up knowing 9 was on its way, but the problem persists. I tried getting rid of everything related to 8 I could find and reinstalling 9 and still nothing works. Very frustrating.
Anyone else experiencing this, know of a fix, or have a really big hammer?

"New and Reset" should restore the recent files dialog.

That is Option+Command+New

As for the bug reporter - the GS bug reporter is in the Graphisoft folder and can be thrown away. This stops the reporting sequence.

Don't know about the Apple Reporter - could be a preference somewhere....

Do you keep your ArchiCAD management files in the recommended locations?

I know how to turn the reporting off but thats like turning up the radio when your car is making a weird noise from the engine. My concern is that it is crashing everytime I shut down, that doesn't seem like its something that should be completely ignored.

And as for the recent files issue, alrerady tried the new & reset, the problem isn't that the dialog box isn't coming up, the box is there, its just that there are no choices under the recent files section, I have no choice but to select the Browse button.

My system is similar to yours - I have had some peculiar issues about saving files, but recoverable ones - nothing like your issue.....

That's the thing, everything appears OK as far as the files themselves. I'm not losing any data or anything, at least nothing I can see. The files are in the folders they should be, even after closing/crashing, the dates and times are OK and all the work is intact. I'm just worried that this is a timebomb waiting to happen. And obviously it will happen just before a deadline on a very important project for our biggest client.

Hi there.
We had a problem recently where PM and AC were crashingwhen you wen to close them. We eventually figured that it's related to the Plotter prefs files. navigate to:
Users:(your user name):Library:Preferences:Graphisoft:
In here there should be a bunch of files with the '.prefs' extension.
When AC or PM quit, they save your plotter setup preferences to these files. If there is a problem with one, then PM and AC crash while trying to write to them. If you delete all of the '.prefs' files, restart your machine and crank up AC or PM, you should be fine(worked for us anyway).

Sounds like that may be it, as everytime I start up PM my plotter settings are gone, back to default I guess. Will try your solution and let you know.

That did it. Deleting all those .prefs files fixed both problems actually. Actually all three. No more crash on close, my recent files show up and my plotter settings stay the way they should.
Thank you very much.
